To advocate for residents I did multiple interviews at the MCPLive TV studios in Conroe. In this interview about MUDs in The Woodlands, I had my props - the ruler and yardstick aid in showing how much we're sinking if we don't use more surface water.
It's only published here on Facebook.
When I looked myself up to deposit some of my previous work on MUD 47 I found this and remember creating this graphic.
I appreciate the share by Woodlands In Focus. It's important to show residents that while subsidence happens slowly it is an irreversible and constant action that should be minimized through use of more surface water.
We're currently taking only 50% surface water and our our subsidence has returned to the rate we were at before the surface water plant was built. That's a consequence of more development.
This Community Impact Article discusses how we're not replenishing the groundwater we're pumping and our subsidence rate has increased. This article points out that Lone Star Groundwater Conservation District (LSGCD) isn't restricting Groundwater pumping.
The current LSGCD board keeps winning elections but I've tried to point out how their promises are empty.
The current LSGCD ran with the slogan of RAW or Restore Affordable Water. Our water bills haven't gone down but our ground elevation has. If we continue on this trajectory we'll have widespread flooding in our community. Already over 400 homes flooded in Creekside Park during Hurricane Harvey.
I would love the opportunity to get back to fighting for resident's right to stop irresponsible groundwater pumping and better utilize the surface water plant we have.
